Sidney Craig McConnell, of Vilonia, passed away on April 2, 2023 at Veterans Hospital in Little Rock at the age of 75.
He was born August 27, 1947 to Blair McConnell and Hazel (Hovell) McConnell in Mt. Ida, Arkansas. He was a christian in the Presbyterian faith. He graduated high school in Mt. Ida and then joined the United States Army where he had six weeks of basic training. After training, he to Vietnam, where he obtained rank of sergeant, received a service medal with 2 bronze stars, a campaign medal, Vietnam combat infantry badge, air medal, and a Gallantry cross with palms.
After his tenure in the military, he received his master electrician license, and was an electrician until his retirement. Hunting and fishing was Craig's favorite sport, especially catching crappie on Lake Conway.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Marc, David and Roger.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jackie Marie McConnell of Vilonia; two sons, Teal (Tammy) McConnell of Bald Knob and Neal McConnell of Vilonia; two brothers, Bruce (Judy) McConnell of Pine Bluff; Clark Maria McConnell of Danville; three sisters, Kathy (Elton) Ellison of Oden, Arkansas; Reba Seward of Lawrence, Kansas; Joanne McConnell of Prairie Grove, Arkansas; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will host a visitation from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm, Thursday, April 6, 2023 with a memorial service starting at 2:00 pm, both at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, 50 eagle street, Vilonia, AR 72173. Flowers should be delivered to the church.
