Roland L. Bacon, age 71, of Vilonia, Arkansas passed away Saturday, September 3rd, 2022.
He was born in Omaha, Nebraska to Jack and Lavone Bacon. He was retired from Union Pacific Railroad as a Machinist. He was a United States Army Veteran serving in special operations with the 101st Airborne Recondo Unit during the Vietnam war, and a member of the American Legion. He loved bonfires, hunting, fishing and boating. He was a master scuba diver, and loved to travel as he was known as the 'wagon master' by his fellow travellers.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 50 years, Sharon Bacon of Vilonia; two daughters, Janet Simmons and husband, Mike of Vilonia; Jennifer Pearce of Vilonia; three grandchildren, Megan Stacks, Jacob Pearce, and Landen Simmons all of Vilonia; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Lavone Bacon and four brothers, Jack Bacon, Jr.; Michael Bacon; Gary Bacon and Dennis Bacon, and his grandparents, John and Gladys Robb.
The family will receive friends visitation on Friday, September 9, 2022 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Vilonia Funeral Home, 1134 Main Street, Vilonia, AR. 72173. A celebration of life will be Saturday, September 10, 2022 at 11:00 am at Summit Church, 1100 US-64 E, Vilonia, Arkansas 72173.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the Vilonia Veterans Museum, 53 N. Mt Olive Rd, Vilonia, Arkansas 72173.
