Marie Simon

Marie Simon was born on May 27, 1924 near Plainview, AR and lived her young life on the family farm before leaving to live in Little Rock and work in Jacksonville, AR. She was the oldest of 9 brothers and sisters. Marie passed away June 5, 2023 after celebrating her 99th birthday a few days earlier.

She is preceded in death by her Father Johney Gray King and Mother Bertha Mae Reed King, sister Corine King Reed, brother Bobby John King, husband William Mansel Atkinson, and husband Irving Jerome Simon. Marie is survived by brothers and sisters Violet Mae King Vuurens, Shannon Reed King, Velma Lee King Lund, Lucille King Frost, Lavell King, and Carolyn Sue King Langley. She is also survived by her son Kenneth Mansel Atkinson (Debbie Sue) and daughter Loretta Bramlett (David), 4 Grandchildren Tracy Ann Atkinson, Angela Leigh Atkinson Brewer (Charles), Dotti Marie Bramlett Barrow (Matt), and Jennifer Ellen Bramlett Swain (Mike), Great Grandchildren William Blake Henderson, Emily Marie Robinette, Hunter William Robinette, Tyler Chase Henderson, Jericho Sharon Brown, Nathanial William Brewer, Natalie Marie Barrow, Adam Scott Barrow, Autumn Marie Barrow, Christian Swain, and Ben Swain, and Great Great Grandson Kyzer Chase Henderson.

Marie is a member of Temple Baptist Church in Little Rock. Her favorite hymn was Just As I Am that was played when she was saved at age 10. Marie was an example of the Godly woman in Proverbs 31, always kind and elegant.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Atkinson, Charles Brewer, Nate Brewer, Matt Barrow, Hunter Robinette, and Mike Swain.

A graveside service will be at the Edlin Cemetery in Stony Point at 10 AM on Thursday June 8, 2023 by Reverend Ed Stephenson.

During her last 9 ½ months on Hospice Care we were able to get to know her and will cherish the memories she gave us. A special thanks to Kindred Hospice Care for the caring service and a very special thank you to Debbie Atkinson for her loving care.
