Leonard Shelby Noggle, age 98 of Farmington, New Mexico, formerly of Vilonia, AR passed away on January 13, 2019 in Farmington, New Mexico. Leonard was born November 26, 1920, in Mt. Vernon, AR. A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 28, 2019 at Vilonia Cemetery with Rev. James Kjorlaug officiating. Noggle, Farmington, New Mexico resident, Leonard Shelby "Nog" Noggle, passed away peacefully at Cedar Ridge Nursing Home January 13, 2019 at 11:15 PM. He was 98 years old. Leonard was born to Joseph E. and Clifford (nee Maddox) Noggle at Mt. Vernon, Arkansas on November 26th, 1920.
Leonard served in the Civilian Conservation Corps before serving in the US Army Air Force from January 1942 until November 1945. After completing his military service, Leonard was employed for 30 years with the US Bureau of Reclamation (US Department of the Interior) in Colorado, California, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. Leonard was passionately involved with the Boy Scouts of America for over 25 years. He was the first Scout Troop Leader in the NM Kit Carson Council to be awarded the Silver Beaver for distinguished service. In addition to his commitment to Scouting, Leonard was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Farmington and involved with a number of volunteer community programs which included The Daily Bread, Meals on Wheels, and the local Weatherization Project. Leonard was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Meeks Noggle; his parents, Joseph E. & Clifford Maddox Noggle; his two brothers, Howard and JC Noggle; his sister, Viva Lee Noggle Barnes; his brother in-law, Clovis C. Barnes, and his sister in-law Mary Frances Henson Noggle. Leonard is survived by daughter Patty McClelland and husband, Ed, of Roswell, NM; son Ron Noggle of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Mike Enloe, Chris Enloe, Katherine (Han-Noggle) Perez and husband Juan, and Brian McClelland; great grandchildren Chelsea Enloe, Christopher Enloe, and Maxwell Perez; and great great grandchild Tristan Wisniewski.
There will be a visitation at the Brewer Lee & Larkin Memorial Chapel (103 E. Ute St.) on Monday night, January 21st from 6:00PM until 8:00PM. Leonard will be buried in Vilonia, Arkansas.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Leonard's memory can be made to the RiverStone Church, 808 N. Monterey Avenue, Farmington, NM.
