Jana Marie Sowards

Jana Marie Sowards, 60, of Conway, Arkansas, passed away suddenly on Friday, September 21, 2018. Her family presumes that it was the very first time she’d ever been early for anything.
Jana, though not punctual, was wildly beloved. She exuded the fruit of the Spirit and all who met her remember her kindness, her gentleness and the extraordinary way she loved. At the age of 55, she fulfilled a lifelong dream and obtained her BSN, then spent the latter years of her life working as a nurse. She was gifted in caring for others. Her family, of course, got the best of this. She served them with her whole heart, and with so much joy. She had the ability to make anyone sincerely feel like the most important person in the world.
She loved to worship, to garden, and to spend time with her family. Her idea of a good time looked like a game of cards with her husband and kids, a quiet morning with her journal and Jesus, or an afternoon at a theme park riding roller coasters, the scarier the better. She loved to travel and was always up for an adventure. Jana was a woman who laughed without fear of the future.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Wayne Sowards, her nine children: Elizabeth Shepard, Josh (Rebekah) Sowards, Jeremiah (Jessica) Sowards, Jessica (Tyler) Ferguson, Paul (Sarah) Sowards, Robert (Lola) Sowards, Mikela Sowards, Elijah (Joeli) Sowards, and Noah Sowards, and her fourteen grandchildren. She is also survived by her mother, Janice Ruse, and her five siblings: Mike, Mary Kay, Chuck, Missy, and Berta. She is preceded in death by her father, Robert Wayne Ruse and her grandson, Christian Lee Sowards.
A visitation will be held at Vilonia Funeral Home on Friday, September 28, 2018, from 6:00 pm to 8 pm. A celebration of life will be held at the First Assembly of God Church in Vilonia at 12:00 pm on Saturday, September 29, 2018. Friends and families are invited to attend both events.
