Doris Maxine Carrithers

February 1, 1925 — March 18, 2022

Doris Maxine Carrithers, 97, of Conway, Arkansas, died Friday, March 18, 2022.

She was born on February 1, 1925, to Leslie and Faye Patrick in Baxter Springs, Kansas. Doris married Jack Carrithers on May 11, 1947, and had two children, Pat and Peggy. She and Jack raised their children in Joplin, Missouri and Springfield, Missouri. Doris retired from American National where she worked within the insurance field. Doris and Jack were active members of South Street Christian Church in Springfield and First United Methodist Church in Conway.

Doris believed in giving of her time and talents as an expression of her faith. Until the most recent years of her life, she was an active volunteer in her church and helped begin the "Prayer Shawl Ministry" that provides comfort in physical form to many in the community. Throughout her retirement, Doris also volunteered with the Good Sams Club and Conway Regional Hospital Auxillary.

When not volunteering, Doris could be spotted cheering for her favorite teams, the Drury Panthers, UCA Bears, and the St. Louis Cardinals. She also instilled a lifelong passion for learning and reading to her children.

Doris is survived by her son, Pat Carrithers (Deborah) of San Antonio, Texas; daughter, Peggy Weatherly of Conway, Arkansas; granddaughter, Lauren Geier (Trey) of Conway, Arkansas; grandson, David Weatherly of Little Rock, Arkansas; granddaughter, Tess Carrithers (Sev Travis) of Houston, Texas; her beloved great-grandchildren, Logan, Jack, Norah, Rowan; and many nieces, nephews, and friends that she considered family.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack Carrithers and son-in-law, Allen Weatherly.
