Delbert G. "Butch" Buntjer - Batesville, AR

 

Delbert G. "Butch" Buntjer, age 75, of Batesville, Arkansas formerly of Worthington, Minnesota, passed away July 19th, 2017.

He was born November 1, 1941 in Rushmore, Minnesota to George and Harminea (Aielts) Buntjer. He grew up in the Worthington area and graduated from the Worthington High School in 1959 where he played ball for the Worthington Cubs. He worked at the State Theater for Gay Hower and also at General Trading.

He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Batesville, Arkansas. He loved life, and loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, duck hunting, playing cards with his buddies and family. He loved sports. His favorite teams were the Minnesota Twins, Minnesota Vikings, and the Arkansas Razorbacks.

He married Donna Kostel and they had four children, Lee and Lori (twins); Michael, and Lynn. They later divorced, and he married Bonnie Bostic of Vilonia and had three step children, Missy Bishop; Carl Bishop and Tim Bishop. After they moved to Batesville, Arkansas in the 1970's he worked as a Supervisor for Gencorp Automotive. His employees say he was one of the best supervisors.

He is survived by his four children and two step children. sisters, Darlene Dykstra and Louise Edwards of California; Esther (Norb) Ponto of Brandon, South Dakota; Diane (Al) Gerdes of Worthington, Minnesota; several grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Bonnie Bostic Buntjer; step daughter, Missy Bishop; sisters, Dorothy and Judy, three brothers-in-law, and one grandson, Tyler Carl Bishop.
He was loved by so many and will forever be remembered in our hearts. He will truly be missed.

A graveside service will be Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Vilonia Cemetery in Vilonia, Arkansas. Family will gather one hour prior to the service at the Vilonia Funeral Home Chapel 1134 Main Street Vilonia, Arkansas 72173.
