If Death Has Occurred at Home
If death has occurred at home and your loved one was under hospice care, you should immediately call the hospice nurse and inform them of the passing. Your hospice nurse will take care of everything. You should also let the nurse know that your funeral home of choice is Vilonia Funeral Home. If death has occurred at home and your loved one was not under hospice care you should call 911. At some point, the coroner or deputies will ask you which funeral home you want to use, let them know that your funeral home of choice is Vilonia Funeral Home. After the hospice nurse or authorities call us, we will respond to the place of death and transport your loved one into our care. If Death Has Occurred in a Hospital or Other Medical Facility
If death has occurred in a hospital or nursing facility, you should let the staff know that you want Vilonia Funeral Home to handle the arrangements. The nursing home or hospital staff will prepare your loved one for our arrival, and then call us on your behalf. When the hospital or nursing facility contacts us, we will respond to the place of death and transport your loved one into our care. If Death Has Occurred Away from Home
If death has occurred away from home it is important that you call us right away at 501-796-2275. We will take care of everything from start to finish. We network with Funeral Homes, Mortuaries, and Crematories around the world. We will contact a Funeral Home or Mortuary in the area where the death has occurred and arrange for embalming or cremation. We will also arrange for the transport of your loved one back home.
If Your Loved One is Under the Care of the Medical Examiner
If your loved one is under the care of the medical examiner and you have chosen to use Vilonia Funeral Home you should give us a call. The next of kin will need to sign a Medical Examiner Release form from our office giving permission for the Medical Examiner to release your loved one into our care. We will fax this signed form to the Medical Examiner office and when they are finished with their investigation they will contact us to transport into our care.
Additional Things That Must Be Done After Death Occurs
If you haven't contacted us already, you will need to call our office to schedule a time to finalize arrangements. Your funeral director will gather all of the necessary information needed to obtain a death certificate, as well as prepare and submit newspaper notices if you want us to. If you choose, at that time we will also arrange the funeral ceremony or memorial services.

You should gather any birth certificates, social security numbers. If the deceased was a veteran, you wish to file for veterans benefits then you will need to bring a copy of the DD 214 and/or any other discharge paperwork.
If there is going to be a public viewing or funeral ceremony, you will need to bring clothes to the funeral home when you come to make arrangements.
